Garcio
Online gaming app has native, cross-platform performance through Qt
The Challenge
To develop its new online poker application, SimbaPoker.com, Garcio AB needed a C++ application development framework that would work on Linux, Windows and Mac. In addition to running on multiple computing platforms, the applications needed to be easy to operate, service, upgrade and manage.
The Solution
Trolltech’s Qt delivered a cross-application development framework that enabled the company to write code for all three platforms using Qt’s single-source code tree, which enables developers to code once and deploy anywhere. Additionally, Qt was able to help Garcio accelerate development using an API that included a mature object model, a rich set of collection classes and functionality for GUI programming, layout, database programming, networking, XML, internationalization and OpenGL integration.
The Value
Qt enabled the programming team to achieve faster, easier coding across multiple platforms, making it possible for Garcio to bring the product to market quickly and with reduced effort.
“We deliver true native applications on all platforms – without the
overhead costs of developing and maintaining two or more code bases. Even
with a reasonable budget, it’s almost impossible to achieve this kind of
native, cross-platform deployment so quickly without Qt.”
