Qtopia Greenphone Grant Program - Guidelines

Entering the Innovation Grant Program:

To enter the Innovation Grant Program, you must submit an entry form on the application you intended to develop.  Entry forms will be accepted beginning June 26, 2007 until device inventory remains available, or until August 7, 2007 (whichever occurs first).  Entry forms must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on August 7, 2007 to be eligible.  Entry is deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry.  Entries must function with the Qtopia Greenphone and must be compiled with Qtopia Greenphone version 4.2.2. 

The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for computer system, hardware, software, network program, or other errors, failures, or malfunctions of any kind, whether human or technical in nature.

Entry materials will not be returned; however applicant retains all ownership in the program submitted, and agrees to have their final applications posted for download on a Trolltech website.

The entry process will require a short description of your approach to this program, and a statement attesting that the submission is original, you own all rights to it or are authorized by your employer to submit the application for publication a Trolltech website.

Applications created for the Grant Program may not infringe on any trademarked or copyrighted material and must attest as such. Failure to attest to these official guidelines and on subsequent affidavit will void entrant’s eligibility to the Grant Program.

No responsibility is assumed for incorrect or inaccurate capture or transmission of entry information, including but not limited to technical malfunctions, human error, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failure of any telephone network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof, or submission materials that have been tampered with. The Innovation Grant Program application content will not be returned or acknowledged (other than the auto-content reply); however, participants will retain all rights to their respective programs. All submissions that are altered, incomplete, or tampered with in any way will be disqualified. No mechanical reproductions or facsimile submissions will be accepted, and use of automated devices to enter is prohibited.

All software applications developed in the Grant Programmust be written with Qtopia version 4.2.2 or with the SDK provided by Trolltech.

Upon review and selection of entrants application, Trolltech will give each selected Innovation Grant Program participant a Qtopia Greenphone with SDK Community for application development, and as compensation for participation in the Innovation Grant Program. 

At the final software application submission on September 19, 2007, the developer must make a final designation whether the application submitted is licensed as open source or commercial software.

By submitting your software application to this site, you represent that you have the full rights to upload your content and that uploading your content to this site will not violate or infringe the rights of any third person, including but not limited to, rights in copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets or other proprietary rights.

Applications must be entrant's own original creations, must not infringe on third party rights, must not have won previous awards, must not have been posted on another Web site prior to submission, and must be suitable for publication.  In addition, each application must work on Qtopia Greenphone.

You further represent that you will not upload any content that is defamatory, obscene, in violation of any law, or contains any viruses, "worms", "trojan horses" or any other harmful or destructive properties.

Selecting Innovation Grant Program Candidates:

Entries for the Grant Program will begin on or about July 3, 2007.  Entries will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Functionality: The interesting features and behavior of the application.
  • Practical Uses: The ability of the application to perform functions useful to an end user (end user may be a consumer, a developer, an IT staff person or another program).
  • Originality: The uniqueness of the application


Commercial Applications:

By participating in this Program, the developer agrees to grant Trolltech a worldwide, perpetual, and irrevocable right to demonstrate the application publicly and to publish and distribute screen shots and descriptions of the
application in its advertising and promotional materials (including its on-line distributions of such materials).

Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Innovation Grant program should virus, bugs, or other causes beyond Sponsor's control corrupt the administration, security, or proper judging of the contest.

Entering this program constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) for Sponsor, its agents and affiliated companies to use Developer’s name, likeness, biographical information, for promotional purposes without additional compensation. By participating entrants agree to these official rules.

The official Innovation Grant Program guidelines are available on the Trolltech website at www.trolltech.com.

Trolltech has no responsibility, obligation, or liability whatsoever with respect to this promotion and is not liable for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, however it arises, caused by this promotion. All national, federal, provincial/state and local laws and regulations apply. Offer void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited, taxed or otherwise restricted under federal, state and local laws, rules or regulations. Norwegian law governs contest.

You grant to Trolltech the following rights to the submitted application: the right to electronically publish and distribute text descriptions of your content in all versions of the www.trolltech.com site; the right to describe the content in advertising and promotional materials.  If program license was specified as
commercial, you may be offered an opportunity by Trolltech or one of its business affiliates that will permit Trolltech to sell your software program on its e-commerce web site.  Under this commercial arrangement you will be compensated for sales of your program under standard terms to be mutually agreed upon.  Trolltech reserves the right in its sole discretion under such future agreement to post your software program on its e-commerce website. Trolltech will, when publishing the descriptions of your content, include your name as the copyright owner.

Finally, Trolltech may delete copies of your content on our computers or computers of our business affiliates at any time.
