The Developer Challenge is open to students,  and/or open source or commercial developers. A list of ineligible applicants can be found in the Official Rules, section two. All entrants are subject to the Challenge's Official Rules.

Do I need a Qtopia Greenphone to enter the Challenge?
Qtopia Greenphone is not needed to enter the Challenge. Winning entries in Phase I will receive a Greenphone and a Greenphone is required for Phase II of the Challenge.

If I do not win in Phase I, can I enter Phase II if I already have a Greenphone?
No. Only winners from Phase I can enter Phase II of the Challenge.

Does my development work have to start only once I've received confirmation of my eligibility or can I have started my project before the Challenge was announced?
The Developer Challenge is open to any application in the qualifying categories regardless of when development work started.

Can you describe what you are looking for in each of the categories?
We specifically did not supply information about the categories so that you would not be limited to a specific kind of application. The only description given in the Official Rules is about the End to End Service where an example is given (restaurant guide or Exchange client)

Can I submit my application even if it is not done by the deadline date but will be done soon or new features will be added after the deadline date?
No, all entries must be complete and functioning as specified in the Official Rules. The entry submitted by the deadline date is the entry that will be judged.

I'd like to enter a commercial application. How do I get a commercial SDK?

How do I get support when working with Qtopia?
Visit qtopia.net for information, FAQs, forums and other resources on Qtopia Greenphone. Commercial SDK license holders can contact Trolltech support through the normal support channels.

Why are you holding a Developer Challenge?
Why not? Seriously, we believe the potential for innovative applications is enormous. While many developers will do it for the coding and the bragging rights, we think it is more interesting to see what you can do in some specific categories.

What do I need to do to enter the Challenge?
First, enter the Challenge by filling out the registration form. First phase entries will be demonstrated on the Qtopia virtual frame buffer (“QVFb”).  Entries must include a screenshot, html description file (from html template), and qpk for x86/qvfb use. Winners from Phase I will enter Phase II and receive a Qtopia Greenphone. For phase two of the contest, entries must be demonstrated on an actual Qtopia Greenphone.  Entries must include a screenshot, html description file (from html template), and qpk for Greenphone. All entries must use Qtopia 4.2.2.

What if I already have Qtopia Greenphone?
Cool. Be sure you have downloaded the Qtopia 4.2.2 SDK from qtopia.net. If you win in Phase I, you will still receive a Greenphone.
