Diagram - Qt Extended: 19 Modules
Modularity eases the creation of advanced user experiences with functionality configured for a wide variety of devices. Qt Extended allows you to select from 19 modules containing a set of features, as well as enables you to choose just the API and add in your own applications or user interface. Modules are selected at build time and all modules function independently. Take a tour of all the modules available in Qt Extended.

What happened to Qtopia?

As a component of the transition from Trolltech to Nokia, we have consolidated the three Trolltech brands (Qt, Qtopia and Trolltech) into a single brand: Qt.

In line with this, we have moved Qtopia into the Qt product family and given it a name that reflects the value it brings: Qt Extended.

Qt Extended extends the functionality of QQt Logot for Embedded Linux. You will still find all the features and functionality of Qtopia Phone Edition and Qtopia Platform within the modules of Qt Extended.

IP Communications

Creating IP communications based devices is easier with the introduction of a new generic API which integrates the wide used Open Source Telepathy IP communications framework. The API implementation in 4.4 focuses on instant messaging and presence making it easier to integrate these into your user experience.

The new Qt UI Test tool supports manual, semi-automated and automated tests and can be run on the target device.

Hundreds of test cases are included in the Qt Extended source code and even more can of course be added. Using the Qt UI test tool module reduces time to market, improves software quality and reduces testing costs.

Reference Design
